Futsalroos fall to rampant Brazil

The Futsalroos were beaten by Brazil in Colombia.
The Futsalroos have suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of superpower Brazil in their second match of the FIFA Futsal World Cup Colombia.

The South Americans were simply too good for Australia, running out convincing 11-1 winners.

Things weren’t looking too bad early on with Greg Giovenali scoring an equalizer after Rodrigo had given Brazil an early lead.

But Fernandinho hammered home a shot from a tight angle to put Brazil in front soon after before Falcao took over, finishing with a hat-trick as they put the Futsalroos to the sword after the break.

“We did some good things out there this evening,” Head Coach Rob Varela commented at the post-match press conference.

“If we can show the same kind of ability we did against Brazil in the match against Ukraine, then there’s no reason why we can’t believe. We’re not going to park the bus in an effort to stop conceding.”

Despite the loss, the Futsalroos can still qualify for the knockout stage if they can beat Ukraine in their final group match this weekend.
